These are pretty much the only skins on the site aside from Fang, Daria, and Abigail that don't have the dreaded gray square issue under 100% RGB gamut. Excellent work.

Imo, Ash's HQ Zoey is much better than the one I released, so I didn't bother copying it over to the new forum(plus if I recall the skin is still very much a WIP that I abandoned once Ash released his)

Looks nice. Very coincidental, too. When I got up this morning (about 5 minutes ago), I thought to myself, "I should re-hack Sheva Alomar to give her better rigging, and rebuild her faceposing." If only she had a higher-quality skin, though... Mostly because I want to make an extended animation with her. :P Looks really good, shaotek. I love your high-resolution reskins.

I think it's the lamp hitting her. Could be mismatched too however, I have a new monitor and I'm still tweaking the colors n shit so thats possible. This skin is a beta, she has some misalignment near her inner thighs and I plan to tweak the vag more so if anyone finds things that need fixing let me know.

Could the body skin tone be edited to match her face more? I spawned her myself to make sure and it's pretty noticeable, both with and without these textures, so it's not your monitor.

I was gonna send this in a pm to Shaotek since I was the one whom requested Sheva in the first place, but as we have several other budding artists artists here doing stuff, I figured some of you might pick up a tip or two, or not *shrug* 1. Never use gray, white or black balancing for highlighting skin tone. Ever. eevvuuuuuur. Even professionals do this when they are pressed for time, and unless the game they're working on has an AMAZING lighting model, it's going to look awful, even on dudes with scraggly beards. Even Capcom did this, which is why Sheva has a 5:00 shadow and looks like she needs a shave in the first place. Check over close ups of Raven, Christie, and Eddy from Tekken. That's how you shade dark skin. That is to say you take an original sample, and then you BLEND in a derivation using the base color as the shading modifier, and blacks are used for moles and hair, there is zero gray to be found anywhere. so: As we see, there's gray banding on her arms (especially on the inside of her elbows), gray patches across from her aureola on either side, enough gray on her jaw and lips that you could stick a bandana on her and she could pass for Solid Snake (capcom's fault there), and another band just under her breastbone, and the entire area from below her navel to her butt.

Then the color and contrast on your monitor aren't set correctly. More than likely your color level is too low (especially reds) and your contrast is too flat. yeah it's great for that edgy omg noire omg gaming so edgy and dark omg omg, but it sucks for anything else, especially for doing artwork. Now I'm not about to tell you how to set your personal stuff, but the thing is when you're making art, your personal stuff doesn't matter. (shock, gasp) You're making it for a wide audience with differing equipment and the best way is to try to find a balance if you can. (unless you don't a give a shit) These areas should be given a color offset that simply isn't a darker tone than the base before it's shaded, and her hands oddly enough are the best match for this. She's got mixed heritage and the rest of her skin should reflect this. Pretty sure one of her parents isn't a grey from xcom. Also overshadowing below the breasts and on the undercurve of them and then everything below the navel and inside of the thighs is another one. That shading is there in pics because of where lights are usually placed in glamor/amateur shots. Yes, it enhances curviness automatically, but it's also 100% artificial, and looks fake as hell in anything other than a standing straight pose, so you might consider how strong you actually want to make it. All you should be doing is adding definition and subtle curvature, not making any shading decisions. That's what lighting is for. Enhancing is one thing, artificially boosting is another, and the result can be pretty jarring if you're not careful. ( Check Lillith and Ellidin and Sandra, then look over Jill and Claire, the shading on the RE girls is WAY WAAAAAAY overdone for neutrally or additively lit stuff) The easiest way to spot this is to A: jack up the color on your card/monitor to 100% and see if anything on the texture literally turns another color compared to what it used to be. If it does, that's actually what color it is and you should probably think about matching it to the rest of the texture better. (and it shouldn't be gray unless you're making an Alien from ALIENS) Also on your final pass, make a copy of your texture and then paste it onto the same texture again and multiply it 100% (both GIMP and Photoshop have this function). If a part of the texture turns into a giant super dark or ultra colored [insert color here] blotch that doesn't match the rest of the texture tone, you've over done it big time. Anyways, back to Sheva: I would use her hand textures as the color and tone base for the rest of her body. Right now it's too desaturated (and has gray) and literally has no pale or pink tonal work, which is what it should have, as we can see from her face, feet, and hands. Also of course her face needs to rezzed up and super mega ungrayed so it doesn't look like she has skin cancer, especially around the lips and chin. Hope that helps.

Nice write-up, 27X. I didn't get a "she's got cancer" vibe, just had a naked-eye feeling that something was off. Seems it's more complicated that I thought. This is apparent in the default nude Sheva as well, so it's not Shoatek, but I'd absolutely love to see how she looks with these reformations.

Yeah, it's certainly not Shaotek's fault by any stretch, but in uprezzing the skin, the issue capcom introduced have been replicated over, and it's really really noticeable on a color corrected monitor, and as stated gray is never EVER a good thing on skin tones, any skin tones.

At any rate, she looks even farther from her original model than ever before. I honestly wonder if anyone could even recognize her face as originally being Liara's from Mass Effect now. Yea each hair style is it's own prop that you bonemerge to her. Spawn her, spawn the hair, bonemerge It's the same process you'd go through when you add hats to TF2 models

After some testing, I have discovered that Lara's hair is broken, as it stretches out when you pose the neck, and not Lara nor Aphrodyte ones have bones to Joint tool pose them with.

They don't have bones, they essentially weld onto the bone they are parented to which if memory serves is Valve.biped neck 1. Could you post a pic of the broken hair? I haven't run into any problems

I can verify the broken Lara hair, because I spent some time last night hacking into onto Aurora's body permanently as a part of an update for her. The last two rungs of vertices of her ponytail are rigged to ValveBiped.Neck, rather than ValveBiped.Neck1. Discovered this as I was giving the hair jigglebones. By the way, the skin and hair are both absolutely gorgeous. I may actually use Aurora again because of this. Thank you very much. :).

The same way you would attach TF2 hats. Just lock all the hat bones to the bones on the body and zero their position.

There are some models in same folder. Use bonemerge tool from workshop to combine different hairstyles and clothes.

I realised by idiocy immediately and, after playing with the hair for a bit since there seems to be a nine year-old girl somewhere inside of me, I deleted it before I thought it could do any harm.

Ok, this thread might be old but, has anyone payed attention to Sandras ear? in game, her ears are a lot paler than her than skin. I double checked everything and made sure i did everything right and replaced all the files correctly. But, it wont budge. It bothers me alot especially when im trying to pose her. Her tan skin is also alot brighter then the one in the pic. why is that?

Thanks, that worked ! If anyone has the same problem, just use the above mentioned procedure with normal texture. (In my case FemaleBody_n)
